Chuck and Tom, real brothers, started jamming together (bass and drums) for fun in the late eighties putting out a few cassettes made on a fostex X-15 cassette 4 track recorder. Their real musical lives involved playing in LA rock, new wave and power pop bands in clubs for money and/or for fame. Collectively, the brothers played and headlined with various acts in virtually (well almost virtually) every club in Los Angeles with various nobodies, has-beens, famous and creative bands. Tom studied bass with the infamous Carol Kaye while Chuck studied with Frank Zappa Alumnus, Ralph Humphries. Their schooling didn’t take away from their Iggy Pop, James Brown, Cheap Trick approach to crafting or destroying a song. In 1996 after earning enough money playing drums on records for other artists, Chuck bought the clunky ADAT 8 track recorder and a 16 channel Mackie board for way too much money. They recruited Joe Kramer, a unique guitarist/songwriter who Chuck had met on a musical adventure to record the guitar on the single "Halloweenish". Joe has been in the band ever since. They released the Orange Vinyl single which became a staple on College radio playlists. From that point, Tom, Chuck, Joe and multi- instrumentalist Dan Marfisi (POE, Lowen and Navarro) have made time in their lives to keep the Drool Brothers alive and healthy. Their success by way of gaining fans and underground radio airplay continues to encourage them to record. Check out our discography. |
